Options available for Looking good

(Las Vegas)  Today's aging society has endless options when considering altering appearances.  Whether corrective procedures are needed or short-term alternatives are used, seniors can virtually seek out a vast array of solutions to help them look and feel younger.

Ranging from permanent makeup to plastic surgery to costly "wonder" creams, the selection can be vast and the decision can become difficult.  One local expert, Mary Arnold, founder of Professional Permanent Cosmetics (sm), said a growing number of seniors are turning to permanent cosmetics for a more vibrant look around the clock.

"Women and men alike are seeking ways to look younger and fresher, which in turn enhances their confidence and gives the more poise," said Arnold, a registered nurse for more than 30 years and a permanent makeup artist for more than a dozen years.  "Permanent cosmetics offers a simple solution for beauty."

Arnold recommends conducting research before deciding on an age-reversing process.  For instance, many creams on the market claim to have found the answer to reversing the aging process.

Some of them may work, but many are costly and leave undesirable side effects.  This option is usually very short-term, and the effectiveness can differ among creams.

Another way to look younger is through Botox.  A form of the poisonous botulinum toxin, Botox works to diminish the appearance of wrinkles by paralyzing certain muscles in the forehead and around the eyes.

Purified injections of Botox block nerve impulses that trigger facial muscles that can commonly cause wrinkles.  Effects of the injections last three to six months.  This procedure is effective yet short-term.

Plastic surgery, on the other hand, can provide a long-term change.  Whether it's a tummy tuck, liposuction, face-lift, or breast augmentation, the results will be extreme and permanent.

For a simpler medium, permanent makeup can provide effective results without being too extreme.

"Permanent cosmetics is a rewarding option that is safe and practical," Arnold said.  Arnold, a specialist in color adjustments and corrective procedures, said permanent cosmetics is beneficial to women whose hands are too shaky to use an eyebrow pencil or apply eyeliner or lip liner.

Permanent cosmetics is also useful in hiding unsightly scars on the skin.  The process can be applied to any area of the skin where pigment has been lost. For those with scars from burns or surgery, the procedure will eliminate the uneven pigmentation.

Permanent cosmetics can be used to simulate hair on balding areas such as on the scalp or beard regions.  In addition, cosmetic tattooing is commonly used in areola restoration following a mastectomy or other breast reconstruction.

Professional Permanent Cosmetics (sm) provides safe, sterile permanent makeup procedures for appearance enhancement and restoration.  The business, located at 68790B W. Charleston Blvd., offers cosmetic enhancement for eyebrows, eyeliner, eyeshadow, blush, lip color, as well as color adjustments, tattoo removal and corrective procedures.  Professional Permanent Cosmetics (sm) can be reached at 702-360-4260, or its web site can be accessed at www.permanentmakeup.com.
